For web-based meeting platforms, including Blackboard Collaborate, your web browser must be allowed to use your camera and microphone to work properly. For online meetings, Chrome or Firefox is recommended.

By default, when starting an online meeting, your web browser will automatically ask if you want to allow camera and microphone usage, towards the top of the browser window. Example: If these prompts appear for you, simply click Allow on all the prompts that appear and your web browser will have access to your camera and microphone.

If these prompts do not appear for you, you can click the padlock icon next to the web address bar in order to verify the permissions from there. This must be done after you join a Collaborate session.

Note: Please be aware that even after your web browser allows video and audio access, you must still click the camera and microphone icons inside of Collaborate in order to activate these devices.
